WIRING
Under wired bras have a wire made from a rigid material in the underside of the bra cup. It is usually made from plastic or metal. However, the rigidity of the wire can cause bras to become uncomfortable with time. Also, once the wire sticks out of the fabric, it will have to be replaced.
Wire free bras, or soft cup bras, come without under wire but usually have a wider band of fabric underneath the cups to prevent spillage. These are often considered more comfortable than under wire bras but May not offer the same amount of support.

SHAPE
The shape of the bra you choose matters. This concise chart will help you determine which styles are great for a certain effect or outfit.

PADDING
Depending on the extent of padding employed to make the bra soft, bras can have light padding, extra padding or be non-padded.

UTILITY
There are some bras that are made for different purposes. Here are a few special styles:
T-shirt bra: made to give you smooth coverage, often worn under T-shirts and other knit tops.
Maternity bra: made for pregnant and lactating women, helps with sensitivity.
Nursing bra: made without hooks or with an opening at the front for easy breastfeeding.
Sports bra: made to provide extra support for exercise or active play.

STRAPS
Most bras have one strap for each shoulder. There are strapless bras, which are normally used under strapless dresses or tops. The straps can be removed or absent. You’ll also find bras with multi-way straps that allow women to customize the position of straps to suit an outfit.
